OUR STORY

 

As Executive Director and founder of Metropolitan Equestrian, Jane has designed and implemented “MET’s” impactful programs to nurture growth and well-being of young individuals and adults in Nassau County and beyond through equestrian arts.

As a results-driven leader, she uses her expertise to provide business and technology solutions that have helped MET manage staff, stable grounds, clientele, mounted riding and unmounted equestrian programs, educational and tutoring programs, horse shows, and horse care in barns on Long Island, New York City, Connecticut, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Maryland, Virginia, Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Illinois, Kentucky, Texas, Wisconsin, Utah, Colorado and California.

Jane is also an accomplished equestrian, starting her collegiate career as an undergraduate team rider at Long Island University/CW Post. With 30+ years of riding experience, at the professional level, Jane is a skilled teacher of Equine Arts instruction for all ages, abilities and disabilities. Under her guidance, MET’s riders and non-riders achieve both personal successes and successes in many equine competitions such as: 4-H, IEA, AEL and in multiple disciplines including: English, Hunter-Jumper, Dressage, Western, Pleasure, Polo, and more.

Jane's expertise in horse training and horseback riding instruction have been shaped by learning from some of the top professionals in the industry, including U.S. Olympic Show Jumping Team members Bernie Traurig and Neil Shapiro, three-time Mexican Olympic Team member Elisa Shapiro, Grand Prix rider Billie Jean Ehrhardt, and United States Equestrian Federation (USEF) judge Joyce Przebowski, among many others. Jane was the founding coach of Pratt Institute’s College Equestrian Team and was also the the Team Coach of Columbia University’s Equestrian Team.

Jane’s many accomplished affiliations and memberships include serving The Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy Committee at the Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) and she also serves on the United States Hunter Jumper Association’s (USHJA) Diversity and Inclusion Advocacy Committee.

Jane is a graduate of New York University with her Masters Degree in Business Administration from NYU Stern School of Business’s Executive MBA Program. Jane is also a distinguished and Disabled Veteran, having served the United States with dedication during the Gulf War as an Electronic Warfare Technician in the U.S. Navy.

In addition to her non-profit sector work, Jane is the CEO and Founder of Caritas Business Solutions, a New York State Service Disabled Veteran Owned Business (SDVOB) that provides comprehensive business models and technology infrastructure to businesses in all sectors. Jane has a multifaceted skill set, combining leadership coaching, educational opportunities, IT management and business consulting to drive success in diverse professional arenas, and models this success in the many programs offered by MET.

Through MET, Jane has successfully helped horse enthusiasts from every socio-economic level and a wide array of racial and ethnic groups, abilities and disabilities, gain entry and access to equestrian sports, equestrian experiences, grants and scholarships. 

To date, MET’s non-profit organization has secured over $2,000,000 in college scholarships and equestrian grants for horse enthusiasts in their programs.
